Design and Vision: Miami Architect Rene Gonzalez in Conversation

Rene Gonzalez, one of Miami’s most celebrated architects, will discuss his recent award-winning hospitality, retail and residential projects. In conversation with Contract Editor in Chief John Czarnecki, Gonzalez will describe his design vision for creating beautiful architecture and interiors that reflect the Miami context.
Art & Architecture: Blurring the lines

Two prominent and award winning New York architects discuss blurring the boundaries of art and architecture in projects as diverse as The Wright in the Guggenheim Museum to the largest public installation in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, to luxury residences for art collectors in Miami, Los Angeles and New York.
Architecture – Designing a first line of furniture
Moderator: Max Strang
4:30 – 5:30 pm
Strang Architecture with offices in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Sarasota is designing The Sarasota Series, their first line of furniture for Icon, the company that manufactures Wendell Castle’s furniture. Because Strang is a Florida-based architecture practice, Max proposed a line of outdoor furniture. Icon liked the idea and Strang is designing the line, currently working on the engineering drawings. The name Sarasota Series, refers to the city of Sarasota, a hotbed of modern Florida design. The design of the tables in the line are informed by the design of Strang’s houses. Strang will have a prototype by October for the panel.

Katie graduated from the University of Florida with her masters degree in Architecture and worked for one of Miami’s oldest architecture firms, MCHarry, before starting her interior design firm, Errez Design, in 2009. National Kitchen & Bath Association Panel: Leaders make more than followers

Veteran panelists Karl Champley, Australian award winning master builder, Alberto Villalobos designer and design firm principal, and HGTV “Design Star” Jennifer Bertrand address the essential steps and strengths vital in transitioning to a design leader.
