27th Edition of ICFF Sets the Pace for Global Design
30 percent larger footprint, more programming and new exhibitors deliver increased attendance

(New York, NY) – May 27, 2015 – The premier North American global design fair, ICFF®, the keystone event in NYC x Design, celebrated an impressive expansion in exhibitors, programming, and attendance, May 16 – 19, 2015.   Thirty percent more floor space delivered a unique collection of new global and domestic exhibitors, as well as an on-floor education program, curated by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), driving a seven percent increase in attendance by industry professionals.  The enlarged footprint resulted in strong multiple day participation, creating active aisles on two levels of New York’s Jacob K. Javits Center.

The more than 247,000 net sq. ft. of exhibition space showcased hundreds of cutting edge products from around the world, outpacing the double-digit expansion experienced in 2014.

Global Design Pavilions

Pivotal to the Fair were the introduction of the Luxe Interiors + Design and the Ho.MI New York Pavilions.  Both introduced new concepts to ICFF.  Ho.MI New York featured top Italian designers and brands with an emphasis on lifestyle and accessories items.  The Luxe Interiors + Design Pavilion introduced top “classic” designers and brands, offering a more expansive design portfolio. Rounded out by the newly created Design Milk Pavilion, the second level brought a fresh look to the platform.

“Based on overwhelmingly positive reactions – from exhibitors and attendees – I’m confident ICFF 2015 set the stage for an even more impactful ICFF 2016,” said Kevin O’Keefe, ICFF Event Director. “We’ve already received many requests for space increases. It’s also very clear that both LUXE Interiors + Design and Ho.MI New York pavilions are going to require a much larger footprint in 2016. The industry can look forward to ICFF taking another big step up next year!”

Exhibitors and attendees both favorably commented on the quality and sheer numbers of new exhibitors and new product releases: “In the three years since we began exhibiting at ICFF the fair has been an instrumental part of our business growth - this is truly a pivotal moment for new American design and we are thrilled to be a part of it,” said Nick Cope, Co-Founder and Designer for Calico Wallpaper.

ICFF also welcomed many new and returning exhibitors, including Lazzoni, Rypen, FAYCE Textiles, KREOO, B+N Industries, Inc., and Niche Modern, who found the platform greatly expanded and evolved.

“After a 5 year hiatus, it was great to return to the ICFF and see fresh new faces and how much the show has grown in size and sophistication,” said Jeremy Pyles, Creative Director for Niche Modern. “We are definitely returning next year to exhibit!”

Discovering the Best in Emerging Design

As the platform for “What’s New and What’s Next” in design, ICFF continues to provide outstanding programming focused on discovering and celebrating the best in emerging design. The 10th edition of ICFF Studio, a collaboration between Bernhardt Design and ICFF, celebrates original and uncommon products submitted by designers from around the world. This year saw submissions in categories ranging from seating to tabletop accessories to lighting, with ten being recognized. The juried competition received a record number of entries for consideration.

“ICFF continues to expand on its position as the primary design meeting place in North America,” said Jerry Hellings, EVP, Bernhardt Design. “The variety of exhibitors makes it a great place for designers, architects and retailers to discover new and interesting products.”

A Full Slate of Educational Programming

Learning opportunities abounded at ICFF, with over 1,000 attendees attending more than 25 conference sessions and presentations. The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) offered a full slate of Interior Design Continuing Education Council (DCEC)/ Continuing Education Units (CEU) approved sessions throughout the show, while internationally recognized industry leaders shared their knowledge during ICFF Talks. Topics ranged from innovation in materials, through new design approaches in color and style for residential, hospitality, contract and luxury retail environments.

“ICFF was a great success for ASID and we were thrilled to be there representing the interior design profession with cutting-edge practitioner education and student programming,” said ASID CEO Randy Fiser. “Attendance at ASID education sessions more than doubled from last year and the debut of our ICFF Career Exchange was bustling with students and recent graduates, many of whom came away with strong job leads.”

Best Party In Town

This year’s ICFF kicked-off with its annual MoMA opening night party. Presented by ICFF and Luxe Interiors + DESIGN, more than 1,000 attendees packed the special venue to celebrate and experience the band Rough. Made up of award-winning designers, Tom Dixon, Bradford Shellhammer, Del Marquis, Andee Hess and John Weingarten, Rough rocked the “house,” setting the tone for the successful Fair. The night was capped off with Dixon receiving the Hyland Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Christopher Hyland.

Design For Good

The show also offered an opportunity to promote design for good by hosting the New York Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA NY) third annual Take A Seat exhibit. The exhibit featured the chair designs of 22 top designers, which were unveiled at ICFF and will be auctioned off to benefit Habitat for Humanity, NYC.
